Hi All,
My parents had visa appointment last week & got approved. I would like to thank the members of this forum for all the useful postings & information. It helped a lot in mentally preparing them & myself.
Here's my parents experience.
At the security gate, they handed the ds-156, ds-157, appointment letter & passports. My father had a new passport, they circled the old information on ds-156 & asked my father to write the new passport no, issuing & expiring date. My mothers DS-156 has a letter typo in Last name/Surname, which was not a problem, they said.
According to my parents, the security & other official personnel at the consulate seem to be very very polite, courteous & helpful. One of the official while finger printing even tried to speak in Telugu to my father. My father was very impressed that they are trying to learn our language.
At the interview window, the following questions were asked.
1. How long is your daughter in USA
2. Is she working
3. Does she have children
4. To my mother, how many more years of service left
5. Asked my father, if he gets pension - my father showed a letter from corporation from where he retired, just as a proof of his service
6. Asked to show property documents
7. How many children do you have - my parents answered approp & then showed some of our family photos. It seems the VO looked at the photos for sometime appreciating
He then said that they are being given the visa & to pay the fees at the desk
My parents said thank you & left happily.
He didn't ask or see any of my (sponsor or 134) papers. They received the passports & got 10yrs multiple.
Wishing the future applicants good luck & success.
Thanks
RKKD
