  • 10 year multiple entre b1 b2 visa extension. Good Idea?

For about two years I've been coming to the US and stayed 5 months. Never overstayed, never had any troubles (although the last time I entered I faced secondary inspection at the POE, they gave me 6 months again). I stayed in my country sometimes 4 months, sometimes 2.
In a month and a half I have to go back and I've been offered a position to volunteer at a school. I'm really excited but I will be starting in about a month, so I thought about asking for an extension. The thing that worries me is that if it is denied, my visa is cancelled and that's a risk I can't take (my boyfriend is a GC holder).
What do you think? is it a good idea to ask for an extension given my previous records? If the answer is yes, is it a valid reason that I want to stay to volunteer?
    Thanks,
    Kiss

Not a good idea. Volunteering is something you can do without. If you apply for an extension now, given your history, and the reason for extension
(volunteering is not a compelling reason), you may be denied. The notice of
denial will arrive long after your I-94 has expired and you will have to leave
immediately and you may have to face secondary again the next time you enter.
    I suggest donot risk it.

PS Volunteering is not permitted if your I-94 is stamped B-2 and only religious and charitable volunteering is
    permitted on a B1.

        thabk you

I really appreciate your replies. I've decided to go back to my country and come back to the US in a couple of months (probable between 4 and 6).
regarding the volunteering issue, I did my research and I couldn't find any information about volunteering on my kind of visa. Now that I didn't do it, I feel relieved, I don't want to get in any kind of trouble that would jeopardize my next visits.
The first two times I entered, the officer stamped me as I was entering on B1, and the third time on B2. That's random.
        Thanks again.
