  • Parents Visitor Visa Rejected:214(b) Advice Needed

    Hi Senior members,

My parents attended an interview at Mumbai Consulate in September 2006. My father has mentioned in DS-156 that he is employed with 'abc' company since April 2006 as he just joined that company. (Father had employment and leave sanction letter from employer) So when consular officer looked at the date, she told how can you get a vacation for six months with your six months job? My father told her, he has a good relationship with owner. And after couple of question, she rejected visa for my parents on 214(b).

I am reapplying for them. And consular officer will definitely ask my parents why your visa got rejected last time. And I think they might have some kind of note in the system that says the rejection reason. So this time also my father has been working for 7 months with that company. Therefore, how can my parents present themselves so that they can get visa? One thing I can do, this time I can try to get visa for less than 6 months (say for 3 months). Is it worth to proceed in that way? I am afraid in doing so, consular officer might ask my parents why would you need visa for six months before and this time for 3 months only.

    Please help me. It's urgent.

    Thanks in advance.

Please help me. In this kind of situation, is there any chance of getting visa? How my parents present themselves in order to get visa?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think you can say the employer was able to provide me only that much of leave due to work plans of the company. Dont mention so long ..as far as i know nobody mentions that they want to stay for 6 months.. they mention couple of months..also dont apply immediately after rejection.. allow some gap atleast 4-5 months.. my dad came here for a conference, he mentioned that he wants to be in US only for 6 weeks.. where as the conf was only for a week. he did mention that he wants to tour US after conf.. Rarely anybody tours for 6 months.. Think more of what you can add in the letter. May be you can mention where all he wants to go visit.. which city and what occassion.. for example: If he is coming during winter.. you can say he is coming to see christmas and also enjoy the snowfall. Dont forget to mention the ties and commitment to come to India.. if you have any sibblings, they can say they have responsibilities over them. You can show some family pictures showing the ties too.

Thanks Jiggypav. I appreciate for your reply.
I was thinking to proceed in the same way as you mentioned in your post.
