Submitting Docs at Mumbai consulate

Seems like the forms and supporting documents need to be submitted 5 days prior to the interview date at Mumbai for Visitor Visa B2.

Does the consulate require the original documents (including passport, HDFC receipt, Appointment letter, I-134 and Visa Fees) or just the copies to be send before the interview? It is not very clear at VFS website nor at Mumbai Consulate webpage.
