  • Parents granted visa at chennai consulate

    Hi All,

My parents received their visa today at the chennai consulate :-). We do not know the duration as yet. Keeping my fingers crossed for a 10 yr. multiple entry visa. Either way, I'll be happy.

I am very excited to share this information with you as I thought they had a remote chance of getting the visa considering all their kids(3) are in US.

Here are some of the questions they were asked during their interview.

    1. When did your daughter go to US?
    6 years back

    2. What does she do?
    S/W Engineer

    3. When did she last visit india?
    3 Yrs back

    4. What does your son do?
    M.S.

    5. Which university does he go to?
    Univ. Name....

    6. Show me your son's I-20?
My parents started to pull out the paperwork from the Sponsor's documents file and the VO asked for the entire file.
She reviewed all the documents in the Sponsor's documents file.

    7. VO asked my father about the nature of his profession?
    My father is a businessman

    8. How long have you been in this line of business?
    Father replied...30 yrs.

    9. VO asked for the property documents?
Father showed all the original property documetns.

    10. Do you have any relatives in India?
My parents mentioned about all the relatives.

    11. How long do you intend to visit US?
Parents responded 3-4 months though they plan to stay longer.

    12. VO said....it is cold now....why do you want to go now?
My parents mentioned about the holiday season and how beautiful it is.

Atlast, I would like to say....ask your parents to be confident and have all your documents organized.

Even, if the other kids are not the sponsor, it is advisable to send their basic paperwork as well. I received this tip from the immihelp.com sponsor documents page and I am glad I followed it.

I would also like to thank all the people who have posted their experience, it definitely helped me a lot.

    Thanks!

When you say supporting documents of the child who is in US and not a sponser, what all documents did you send for your brother who is doing M.S.?

      Thanks
