90 year old mother to frail to go back to the u.k

can anyone advise me here my mum who is 91 years of age came on a b2 visa i am a u.s resident and my wife a citizen her visa expires in january and i am going to apply for an extension because she has become very frail and has no one to care for her in the u.k .but i see now it can only extend a further 6 months.they told me at immigration that when i become a u.s citizen in 9 months time i can apply for her to stay..but what is the chance of it being extended beyond 6 months we know if she has to return it would probably kill her would they have any sympathy in this case

There is no concept of sympathy in law.

She would not be able to extend beyond 6 months. She would have to return at that time.
