FYI
'Effective November 1, all applicants must fill out their applications online to improve accuracy and speed up processing at the time of the visa interview. Those who booked their visa interview appointment online through VFS are not affected by this change. Those who have handwritten or typed applications should provide application forms generated through the Department of State's website or ones generated online through the VFS booking system.
At your visa interview appointment, if you do not present application forms generated online your application will not be accepted. You will be asked to obtain application forms generated online. Please do not enter the queue outside Gate 6 (Visa Gate) of the U.S. Embassy, New Delhi unless you have forms generated online.'
**Tip: If you are one of those people with handwritten/typed forms, don't worry about the DS-157 and DS-158 forms as they will still be accepted in handwritten or typed form. The DS-156 form, however, must now be the e-visa version of that form. This is mandatory in this case. This form can be accessed through the Department of State's website. Look under 'Visas' and then in the left hand menus for 'Forms'.
This change will not affect many people, but it does mean that from November 1st you can no longer book a visa interview appointment by going to a VFS office with your handwritten/typed forms. Instead, every one will be required to book online and complete and print the application forms online using the VFS site (for now).
