  • Need Suggestion on Visitor's Visa

I am planning to sponsor visa to my sister as my wife needs help and guidance during and after pregnancy.

I don't have my parents and also my wife parents can not come here due to health problems. So ..my question is ...... Can I sponsor visa to my elder sister ? If yes ..what is the probability of getting visa. ? and also coming to documents ..should I produce any extra documents to consulate ..

Please do advise me on this ..

    Thanks in advance

The most imp thing is , your sister should not mention about your wife's
pregnancy. They DO NOT grant visas for pregnancy care.

    Chances of your sister getting a visa depend a lot on other factors;
What she does in INdia? Her income in India. If she is married or single.
Any children and how old are they? What her husband does in India.
Also, state your visa status , how long you have been in US.
Please provide this info for suggestion.

      Thank you .

My sister is married and blessed with a kid ( 12 years) and my brother-in-law is working in fisheries department as A.D.

My sister is working as a front office administrator in a small company.

What all the documents should we produce for consulate?

I am on L1-visa here and staying from past 18 months. I have valid visa till May 2008.

      Thanks again

OK. You have not mentioned about the income part because that is very
important. They will ask, who is paying for the trip? I suggest if her family (both hers and her husband's)income is 5-6 lacs per year or more and she can show it as IT return or other evidence, she should answer ,"Me and my husband are spending our own money for the trip". In this case , you should not send sponsorship and you can simply send an invitation letter with copies of your passport and visa. This is because, people who spend their
own money are considered financially strong and less likely to stay back in US and so have a better chance at the visa.

If they is doubt about their own income, you should send an I-134 with evidence of your income, IT return, bank statement etc. In this case, she should say that you are spending the money.

I suggest she should apply together with her son saying her main purpose
is to take her son to visit US and her brother during Christmas vacation.
Ask for a short visit of say 2 weeks ( for the christmas time). She should show proof of her employment and leave for 2 weeks, and evidence of her son's vacation at school and if the stay exceeds vacation time, they should get a letter from his school granting a leave for the extra period.

If they ask why the husband is not going, she should say he is busy with his profession and cannot leave.

If she applies alone for a casual visit, they will suspect that there may be
pregnancy in US ,or some other plan because no one leaves a job in India and goes to visit brother ALONE just for a casual visit.
