  • Can translator be requested at the time of interview

    Hi,

My parents are attending Interview this 28th. They have been rejected once in May. So I took another apointment in May, which came to this month's 28th. At that time there were no dates whatsoever for my mother-tongue. So I dint have a choice but to take the Interview in English. I feel it will help my parents tremendosly to keep their cool and understand the VO's questions and be able to anwer him properly if it the Interview is in our mother-tongue. So now when they go for the Interview, can they ask for a translator. Will the VO, ask them to take another apointment date if my parents ask for a translator.

    Please advice in this matter.

    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Nitu

They can ask for a translator but there is no guarantee that one will be provided.

The best thing to do is to take the appointment in mother tongue.

I just now checked for free dates at the vfs site, it is saying "No Interview dates available", but then again for english, its shonwing plenty of dates until dec 31.

So If I have to take another appointment for the mother tongue, I am not sure when will it show a free date.

So if my parents go to the Interview on 28th of this month, and ask for a translator, and VO says he cannot provide them with a translator, then will it be a problem if my parents say, its okay we will continue this interview in English. Or is it advisable to not to ask for a translator in the first place, and just talk in English (as best as they can).

      Appreciate your reply,
      Nitu

If they can continue the interview in English, it would be fine.

If your parents are going for the interview at Mumbai, then they can request for a translator at the time of the interview. Hope this helps !!!

No, they are going to Chennai.

I am thinking of telling my parents not ask for any translator. Am thinking if they ask for a translator and they weren't provided with one, and then they continue in English, might bring some negitive impact to the VO about them, as already he will be looking at their application more closely than usual as my parents are going after a rejection.

              Please advice if otherwise.

              Thanks a lot in advance
