  • Visitor visa married status

    Hi,

My mother has a visa appointment in December. My father expired and after 1month I took visa appointment for my mother. In DS-156 we entered my mother's status as Married first, now we changed it back to Widower.

    1. If we put my mother's status as Married, will that be a problem? what documents of my father the Visa officer may ask?
    2. Is it a risk to put her status as Widower, as we saw many cases getting rejected with this status.
    3. Will there be a problem if we keep changing DS-156 before the interview date, will they keep tracking these changes?

Please give your valuable suggestions on this, I'm feeling very tensed and am in a dilemma about what status to put.

    thanks in advance

If your father is no longer alive, you need to put her marital status as 'Widow'.

You can't keep changing it back and forth. You need to just put 'Widow'. Be prepared to show your father's death certificate.
