In-laws work situation

My MIL & FIL work for a firm and both of them officially retired at 58 but they are continuing in the same place in their old jobs.currently they are consulting and are getting 1 year extensions.The Company gave them an employment letter in which they did not mention anything about them being consultants .In DS 156 should we put that they are retired as they are still working?
If the VO questions we asked them to tell that they are retired but are continuing in the same job.We are just confused about how to put that on DS156

They are either retired or they are working. Can't be both at the same time.

As they are working, they should mention that prepare everything accordingly.
