  • Visitor B2 VISA Sponsor

I am in the process of initiating B2 for my parents to visit my brother in the US. Is it mandatory for my brother to sponsor them even though they are capable of sponsoring themselves? If they do not show dependence on my brother in the US, will it affect the validity period of the VISA. Please advise.

Also are original Birth Certificates mandatory? They do not have theirs. What is the alternative to it?

Sponsorship is NOT mandatory . Actually it is the other way round. People who finance their own trip have better chances at the visa because the officer thinks that they are financially strong in India and so more likely to return.
Parents' b.c. not required. Birth certificate of their son they are visiting in US may be asked for to establish parent-child relationship that is if your bro's b.c. shows both the parents' names. It is not mandatory, some officers ask for it some do not.
IF he does not have one, let him send a copy of his school leaving certificate
    showing his dad's name.
