Minimum fund balance

Hi,
I am planning to get my parents to the US on visitor visa, my current status is H1-B. I am not sure what is the safe minimum balance I should show on my US account. Or will it be a better idea to show that my parents will take care of their own expenses?

Please help asap, their visa appointment is scheduled soon.

Thanks for the response. My office folks have told me that I should show myself as the sponsor, so wanted a rough estimate. But I am confused for the exact reason you mention. I did find some of the posts you have replied to 'peace'.
My parents will be here for just a month and I can show 10k in cash in my US bank account. I have been here for just 3 mnths now and will return to India in June.

I assume you are in US on an H-1 or an L-1.
You are not in a position to sponsor anyway, $10k is not enough and you have been
here for too short a time to show a good annual salary.
In this situation, provided they have good funds, they should tell the officer that they will spend their own money for the trip and you can simply send an invitation letter.
