Entry date in DS-156

hii everyone,

my in-laws are going to attend visa interview in Chennai consulate next month. while filling DS-156, we kept the possible date on entry in US as Dec 31st 2006. But after long waiting, we got interview dates in january. While taking apt in jan, we didn't get a chance to change to any later date. does it has any negative effect on the interview result? if yes, is there any way to correct it?

please advice.
