process at US consulate in India

Hello

My parents are having thier visa interview at Chennai on January. They are applying for a tourist visa. Since me and my husband have never been to the US consulate in India before, I was wondering if someone could help us by providing a step by step information of what to do once we step into the US consulate. Also, I would like to know how much money in DD would my parents have to take along with them apart from the HDFC receipts.

here is what my parents did
1. Interview time was at 3:45 PM and they went at around 3:30PM and they were the last to go in in their batch.
2. Stood in the first line where there is a priliminary document sorting where they ask for your DS156, DS 157, passport, HDFC receipt and interview letter.
3. Then they give you a number and send you to the adjacent building.
4. In that buliding they ask you do stand in the finger printing line.
5. Then they will make you to sit in the room for a while
6. Then they call your parents name and make them stand in a line where an officer will see your case and decide on the visa issuance.

Note: Dont carry cell phones, home keys, car keys (any key).
