travelling on fresh H1B, can the parent travel with me on B2?

I stayed in US upto may 2003 on H1B. My parents have 10 yr multiple entry visitor visa and visited me in US in august 2002. After my return to india, I changed job and the new company filed for my H1B. I would be going to US for one year duration in Jan 2007. I want to take my family with me including my mother.
My questions are:
1. Since my mother has got 10 yr multiple entry visa, can she just buy a ticket and travel to US with me? In that case will she face any problems at POE. will the immigration officer ask her for any proof for financial support etc.

2. My new H1 will have any bearing on her B2 visa validity?

3. As I will be staying there for almost a year, can she ask the immigration officer to grant stay upto 1 year at POE? or the stay on visitor visa is strictly limited to 6 months only?

4. If we can go together, I on H1B and my mother on B2 visa, should we carry any special documents to avoid any last minute problems at POE?

5. or would it be better that I go first and then after a month or so my mother joins me in US, so as to avoid any issues with visas?

As long as her B1/2 stamp is valid she can buy the tickets and travel. No problems. And she can travel with you.
She will not get more than 6 months at the POE as per law and may get even less than that.

You can file for extension once in USA but will need to provide support letter and proof of financial support etc.

But on the other hand unless you already have a place to stay and enough money to support yourself, why not wait for a few weeks before you take her with you.
