  • Some Tips for Interview

I would like to add some tips from the already existing list. These are picked up from my mom's experience when she went for visitors visa.

    1. A person who looked well educated, dressed in suit, had his picture pasted in his wife's DS_156 and his wife's picture in his DS_156 forms.
Please check your documents well prior to the Interview. It just adds tension to the last minute.

    2. When your parents are not good with documents, you better sent them in folders. Dont look to save money & let them mess up.

When I tried to ship DHL, the lady at the store recommended me to ship in the envelope, because shipping a DHL Box is a hassle, customs etc., I still insisted to ship in the box, as I had put them in two different folders, neatly labelled and filed with tabs etc., I paid $90 instead of $30. However, they still messed up at my home last minute when they pulled out some papers for notary and when they took it to the CA for property assessment. I cant imagine the trouble, If I had sent them all in loose papers.

    3. Again , Documents in Folders.
If they are preparing their own in India, have someone else help them file it. Every document can be punched holes and put in a file. My mom said almost everyone had paper mess, when waiting for the interview, and when asked during the Interview. They let the paper float around, miss some, and get tensed, someone even cried.
My mom herself found out a HDFC receipt on floor and searched for the person to hand it out, while waiting on the queue.

    4. A girl who was dressed in all stylish and "look at me" style, had no documents to prove for every question VO asked and henced asked to come back / denied visa

I know dressing is important, but not as important as your answers to the VO or your documents. Again, take time to bring all your documents.

    5. If you have your old passports, dont fail to bring them.
We ourselves forgot this, in our list of things, but finally somehow remembered to include it at the last minute. My mom's old passport played as a key for granting visa and hence again, remember your supporting documents or you have to come back again.

    6. One lady was pleading and begging to the officer, that her daughter is pregnant, and that she needed visa very badly
The VO seems to be nice and gave her visa, but personally I think this should be avoided. They may very well be irritated instead of feeling pity.

Keep your documents ! Keep your confidence ! Keep your smile ! Good Luck !
