My father is going to attend the interview in the month of Jan 2007. I prepared and sent the necessary document as per guide lines and the information given in this forum. Detail as follows:

Visitor documents
1. Visitor visa request – Self
2. Affidavit – property
3. Affidavit on proof of return
4. Bank Letter-Original
5. Family photo
6. Property Evaluation-Original
7. House Property Paper – Original
8. Land Property Paper – Original
9. Itinerary to USA – Blocked

General Documents
1. Interview letter
2. DS-156 form
3. DS-157 form
4. HDFC Receipt
5. Photos for Visa
6. Original Passport
7. DD for visa fees

Sponsor documents
1. I-134 Affidavit of support
2. Requesting tourist visa
3. Invitation letter
4. Employment verification letter
5. Bank verification letter
6. Bank Statement
7. Earning Statement- pay stub
8. W2-forms
9. Approval Notice – Latest H1B
10.Copies of Passport- sponsor

My father has to get a DD while going for the visa interview. Can any one suggest how much amount we have to take DD. Recently i have heard that visa fees is not required. Is that true can any one post the latest info?

Do i miss any thing?

Visa issuance fee has been eliminated for Indians effective Nov 8 2006. Read below:

Elimination of Issuance Fee

November 08, 2006

With effect from 8th November,2006 the U.S. Department of State has eliminated the Reciprocity fee for all Indian Nationals applying for a non immigrant US visa.

Thus, Indian passport holders will no longer be required to submit an Issuance fee demand draft for $50 at the time of the visa interview. Holders of Indian Certificates of Identity or Bhutanese passports, continue not owe any reciprocity fee.

However, the FPD fee for $500 paid by Blanket L1 visa applicants would still be applicable and will continue to be paid by demand draft at the time of the interview.

Note: Other Nationalities must logon to http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/reciprocity/index to determine the Issuance Fee amount payable.

Visa Granted

Hello All,

My father Visa was granted and he got 10 year Multiple entry visa.

I organized as per the instruction given in immihelp. It helped a lot in convincing the Visa officer. Even though he is widow and they didn't ask much question other than the family ties.
