If i have a vistior visa, can i change status??

Hi , i would like to know, if i apply for a visitor visa for 1 year then enter the usa. Would it be possible for me to apply for a change in status to an eb-3 work visa if i get offered a job. Thanks for your time...Gavin

You can change status from visitor to many categories, student(F-1), temp worker(H-1), and several others provided you fulfil the criteria for that category.

But the category mentioned by you , EB-3, is an immigrant visa(green card) category and it requires an approved immigrant petition filed by an employer which takes a long time and after the approval there is a visa numbers wait for this category of several years. So, you won't be able to change from visitor to EB-3 just by getting a job.

But you could change from visitor to
H-1b(temp. worker visa) , provided you can find an employer who will have your H-1b petition approved during the 6 month stay you will have on your visitor visa.
