OPT to L-Visa

Hello. I graduated from University in August and recently started working for a company. I was told from my boss that I will be employed for my parent company in Japan. Is it possible to switch from OPT status to L-status? Or does it have to H1? H1 kinda sucks because your wife won't be able to work in the US even if she wants to, whereas L, they allow you.

You can't switch to L1 because you were not working for that company before coming to US. You have to go for H1.
