All Message Boards : Question on Visa expiry, I-94 and duration of stay

I appreciate any pointers to the questions I have:

Assume parents visitor visa expires on Mar 1st, I need them to visit immediately. If they travel before March 1st, say by Feb 15th to US.

Then will the immigration at port of entry let them in for a stay of say 5-6 months? Do parents need to carry a letter requesting for 6 months stay?

What questions could they possibly ask? How to prepare for it?

Can they stay beyond visa expiry date ( from my search on web, I came to know that the date on I-94 is what matters , not visa expiry date) ?

Please share your experience and let me know your recommendation.

generally stay depends on I-94 and officers @ POE issue I-94 per visa... for visitor they stamp any date upto 6 months. you can request if did not get but no guarantee. dont carry any letter to request so...
questions may be where are you going to stay? who will come to pick-you, and so..
