How to prove State of Residence?

Hi,

My parents have moved from Dubai in end of October 2006 to Pune. What kind of proof of residence can be provided ? I am not sure when they will get the date for their interview as right now there are no dates showing for Mumbai Consulate. Should I take an appointment after their 6 months are over in Pune or it is ok to take an earlier appointment?

My parents have applied for a PAN card but I am not sure when they are getting it. My parents have been in and out of Bombay/Pune in 2006. They have property in Bombay in Pune.

Please help on what can be shown as proof of residence. Would my Dad's driver's licence be good ???

Does it matter if it is Bombay or Pune? Or rather does it make a difference if it is different from the address stated on the application form?

Mumbai or Pune does not matter. Both in Maharashtra.
