If I am bringing my parents here on my expense,

I usually have $1000 in my account on average. I have investments (>10K USD), can I show those + 2000USD in my bank account? (What is the point of keeping 5000 in bank account, anyway?)

That really depends upon whether those investments are liquid assets and whether you could really use that money for your parents' expenses while they are here in the US.

If you have $500,000, that does not mean anything, if that does not help in taking care of visitor's expenses.
