Hello,
My parents are planning to apply for B2 visa. I have few questions regarding that.
1. Is the DS156 form to be filled first online and then printed? Can it be printed blank and then filled by hand?
2. To schedule an interview at the Mumbai consulate, does it have to be done online only and not in person?
3. If I try to book it online, it only shows me the dates for Chennai and NewDelhi consulate for January. How can I view the dates for Mumbai for the next months...Feb,March so on?
4. Since both my parents are visiting, do they need to have seperate appointment? If they want to interview in one group slot, how do I book a slot for both of them online?

1. I am also trying to book an appointment online for Mumbai consulate but I do not see any dates at all. I had written to the Mumbai Consulate and they wrote back to me stating that at present there are no dates available, but to keep checking the vfs website as they keep updating it. If you are able to get any information please let me know...I also want to book and appointment for my parents asap. I think you need to take separate appointments...but you can probably take it for the same date. someone with more experience will be able to help you more on this.

yes, you need to fill it online and print it (print on both sides of paper).
2. To schedule an interview at the Mumbai consulate, does it have to be done online only and not in person?
either way... advantages taking appointment online are… you can edit DS156/157 online and can reschedule/cancel appointment.( first one is not possible if you take appointment by visiting VFS office. I am not sure abt the 2nd one)

you need to keep checking and grab it once available.

single appointment only. first fill first applicant (say dad's) details then you wld get an option to add another applicant then add second applicant (say mom's) details .. you can add upto 10 per appointment

Do U Know How To Generate Family Duplicates? I Filled Out One, Printed It And Then Clicked Back...but It Generates A Blank Form With No Saved Info.
Do I Have To Fill First Form, Then Click 'generate Family Duplicate' Then Click Continue? But Then Will It Show Me Both Forms?

Can you change the information on teh form once you fill it? also, do we have to fill the form everytime we want to tak ethe appointment. At present no dates are available in Mumbai consulate. Can i fill the form and save it ..and then keep checking for the dates?

I just checked for dates and Jan 24th is available in Mumbai. Unfortunately I cant take it. But grab it before it goes.

Thank you for the information but I cannot take that date.

First of all I don't have all documents ready for them to pick it up and my parents are not in town to go for that appointment. They can go sometime in Feb or Mar only.

Also they would need to show proof of residency in state of Maharashtra. They have a house in Bombay but have recently bought a house in Pune adn will be residing there. They are planning on mentioning Pune address so that they can get teh passports their. Can they show Bombay electricity bill and put Pune address in teh form? Since they have not even moved in the Pune house they don't have any bill or anything...will not get until 1 month after moving.

I just checked for dates and Jan 24th is available in Mumbai. Unfortunately I cant take it. But grab it before it goes.

Whay Is It Such A Hassle To Prove The Residence? Is That A Mandatory Requirement? If So Cant U Show The Documents Of The House They Own In Pune? Any Ways Pune And Bombay Being In The Same State...i Dont Think U Shld Worry Much. But Hey...i Am Not An Expert.

I am only worried about proving their residence is because they have moved from Dubai in Oct 2006 and prior to that been in and out of Bombay/Pune. Lets see i am assuming by the time i get an appointment they will also geta bill for their new house. Thanks for ur help though.

I think you can do that. But I have heard that the database is the same. I don't know if you will get any more information on the dates that what is available online. But if you do get it please let me know..I can tell my parents also to go to VFS Center in Pune and get an appointment.
