  • visitor visa for grandmother older than 65 years

    Hi there,

I want to call my grandmother to visit us to US. She is over 65 years of age. Is there any way she can get her visa from Ahmedabad - as drop-box? Does she have to appear for interview ?

She had greencard 10 years ago - which she let it go as she didn't visit US to keep her greencard active. So now is it better to re-activate the greencard or re-apply for visitor visa..

    thanks,

Who filed for her gc that has lapsed? Can he/she do it again?

My uncle - i.e. my grandmothers' son applied for his GC in the first place 12 years ago.
Yes he can reapply for his gc, but the question is really what is the best recommended approach - reapply for GC or get her to US on visitor's visa and then apply for GC ?

I assume your uncle is a US citizen and he applied for his mother's gc under the
        immediate relative category.
It is best to do it again because she will get the immigrant visa in India in less than a year.
(parents of US citizens, there is no yearly quota, so it is fast).
Visitor visa is an uncertain process and hard to get , so why make her go through that when she can straightaway get the immigrant visa in 10-12 months.
