  • Visitor visa for parents who have recently returned from Dubai

    Hi,

My parents have moved to India (Bombay) from Dubai sometime in Oct or Nov and if I take their interview date for Mar they would not yet have completed their 6 months in India. They have been in and out of India in the year 2006 to visit Dubai.

I wanted to know if it is ok to apply for a visitor's visa in India within less than 6 months after returning from Dubai. My concern it will not cause issues in proving residency. Obviously their passports also show the day when their Dubai visas were cancelled and the day they came back to India. Would it better if they go for an interview after their 6 months are over? Also, my dad has a property in Bombay and all the electricity bills to prove residency.

Also their passports were last renewed in Dubai ..specially my Mom's which was renewed in August 2006.

If anyone has been in the similar situation please help.

There is no 6 months rule. You can apply whenever you like.

But when you go to select state of residence...it says that you should be prepared to prove the residency and that is done by if you have stayed atleast 6 months or more.

is a there a website ...which states anything about this....thanks for your help though...

That is just to establish whether you would be eligible to go to Mumbai vs. Chennai vs. Delhi vs. Kolkata.

Thank you for your response. Since my parents have not stayed in the State of Maharashtra for 6 months consecutively ...though they have in breaks...wouldn't they be considered as non-residents of that state?
