visiting US 2nd time on B2

Hi, My parents have got 10 year multiple entry visa. They returned to India on Dec'2006 after staying in US for 6 months without any extensions. Now their grand daughter has been diagnosed with stomach disorders and they are very much worried and visiting next week. Would it be alright to tell the same reason to the visa officer at port of entry? How long visa will they possibly get this time?

They are sure to be grilled at entry for returning so early.
And they better be able to really prove the seriousness of the granchild's
illness and the need for their presence.
Or they can be sent back.

I'm afraid it is too late to get any supporting documents as proof of her illness. Do you think it is a better idea to tell a different reason than the actual one like: during the previous visit, they spent most of the time with their son & couldn't stay with their daughter. So, this time they are visiting their daughter. Added to that, they didn't have enough time to visit all places due to their son's tight schedule at work & this is the best time for them to visit US since they have set up everything to fully dedicate on cultivation after 6 months.

What you said is too frivolous to warrant another visit so quickly.The obvious argument to what you said would be " you could have applied for
an extension".
I cannot think of any reason nor do I advise them to return so quickly if it is
actually a casual reason to return. They will only be wasting their fare money and there will be lot of hassle at the 'secondary immigration inspection' at the entry airport.
