Why do you think you will lose your passport?

          First
You will not lose your passport. Just keep it carefully in a pouch they sell for this purpose that you can hang around your neck!

          Second
I think they will detain and send you back to India..(its my guess and not a expert opinion). You can carry the phone numbers of all the Indian consulates in various places and contact them for help.
