  • Applying visitor visa for moms sister

    I am applying visitor visa for my mothers sister. She is a widow and is over 60 years. She has 4 sons staying in India.

    I just wanted to what are the chances of getting visa and what type questions should we expect at the interview.

    Are there any specific documents we need to show?

    Is it necessary to show property?

    Most of the times, documents are not even looked at.

    Widows ususally find it rough but it is possible if a proper presentation is made.

    Please answer the following;
    *Where is your mother ? Is she in US and on what visa?
    *What does your aunt do?
    *What is her financial status in India?
    * Does she live with any of her sons? What are the ages of sons that are single?
    *What is your visa status in US?

        To be honest, this situation is not favourable for her.
        She does not have any occupational ties and no real family ties.
        (single kids and husband count)
        If your mother was in US on a long term visa, ur aunt could say she wished to visit her sister, as that purpose of visit would sound natural.

        But visiting your niece with no ties to India is not a good situation and she
        should not waste her time and money in applying.

        Suggestion;
        Let her develop some occupational ties in India, like a small business/charitable/community work, a responsible position, that can be documented on paper. She should do this for several months and then apply to travel with her sister for a short stay. Even then odds are small , but it is better than applying in the present situation.
