What would happen if we left USA for a day and were let back in?

USCIS lost my families visa extension application, and they now have no I-94

Does anyone know what would happen if we somehow drove into Canada, if they somehow just waived us by, and then returned to the US the same day. What would be the processs at the border on returning.

We are leaving the USA in two weeks anyway for S Africa. If somehow they thanks johnlet us in would new I-94s be issued ?
