  • Affidavit for Under Age Child

My brother(divorced)is a single parent and lives in India. His daughter(17 years - turning 18 years in APRIL mid) visited the US consulate with her father for stamping for US visit and were asked to produce a affidavit from the mother (who presently lives in Germany) that the mother has "NO OBJECTION" for the child to travel to US with her father as she is not an adult yet.

When we got in touch with the mother she told us there is nothing as AFFIDAVIT in Germany (if there is, it would be in GERMAN) and we are kind of lost and do not know what to do.

Is there any other way out for the mother to send a letter for the US consulate general which is attested or acceptable to the consulate general?

Would highly appreciate any comment on this thread.

There must be something like affidavit or notarized document that you would swear out in front of a officer authorized to do that. Alternatively a written document sworn out in front of two credible witnesses should suffice.

As for German document, an English translation would accompany it. The translator will attach another document certify that they k now both the languages and full contact details
