  • visitor visa holder's stay

    Hi,
    My parents got a ten year multiple entry visa and plan to visit in May. I am expecting them to get a 6 month stay stamped at the POE.

    Now, my dad plans to leave in about 2 months but my mum will be staying longer.

    So for my mum, is 4.5-5 months too long to stay if she gets a 6 month visa stamp at the POE?

    If she stays that long will she be able to ever get another 6 month visa stamp?

    Basically, for a visitor with a 6 month visa stamp, when is a good time to leave if you don't want your records to be affected?

    Thanks.

    Her records won't be affected even if she stays the full 6 month granted period provided she leaves before the I94 expiry date.
    The important issues are;
    1. She should leave before the expiry date on her I-94. An overstay of even one day will cause problems.
    2. If she stays 6 months in US, she should space her second visit with at least a 6 month stay in India to get another 6 month stamp the next time.
