  • extension of visitors visa

    Hi,
I am in USA since mid aug on visitors visa. My visa has been extended once for 4mths, as I wanted to appear in residency ( PG course for doctors) interview. I submitted my interview call letters for the extension.
I cleared my interview, my hospital is sponsering H1 visa and my session will start on mid June.
Is it possible to get extension of visitors visa again till mid june and get H1 stamped from Canada? If yes what reason I should give for reapplying?
    Thanks

    Hi,
when I went for visa iv I told them " I am a gynecologist , want to go to USA for my CSA(clinical skill exam) and residency interview" they didn't ask me any qus or documents(even a single one) and gave me 10yrs ME visitors visa.
At the port of entry I said most probably I will done with everything in 3 mths and got stamped for 3 mths.
For extension I sent them iv call letters which r scheduled till feb and result comes on a fix date that is 15 march and i got ext till 30 march.
Now plz give me genuine advice.
    Thanks

Frankly, you don't have a valid reason to stay here until mid-June, do you?
You want to stay here for your convenience. And I doubt if that is a reason that would be accepted.

So do you want us to make up some false story/excuse for you?

Frankly, from what I have heard it is going to be difficult for you to get your H1 stamped in Canada after two extensions. There will be some tough questions there and any **** excuses you make to get this extension could be exposed as ****.

It may be easier for you to get the H1 from India itself when you have a prestigious hospital backing you and you have had only one valid extension.

Since you have been here since August 2006 and since you will not be able to visit India after your residency starts and since your hospital has assured you of an H1, why not make the most of this time and be with friends/family in India until June?

H1 is not considered nonimmigrant visa...and you don't need to show ties to your country when you appear for an interview to get your H1 stamped...as long as everything you 've doneso far is legal, go ahead , and be confident you will get your H1.
