  • Parents to appear for visitor visa 2nd time

Hi, Here is my situation. My father has retired voluntarily 4 years back due to an eye illness for which he had to be operated on 2 times. My mom still works with a bank. My brother and I are in US (both on H1 now) since 6 yrs and 4 yrs respectively. My parents went for visa first time 2 years back (2005) and got rejected as potential immigrants. I sponsored them at that time when I was on H1 (my brother was on F1).

First time, the VO hasnt even looked at any of the supporting documents that my parents carried, he asked very few questions (like if my brother or I had Green card and about my dad being retired)

They are planning to go for visa a second time now. The only change in situation is my brother is also on H1. He wants to sponser them now. From the looks of it, I know we have a very weak case, can you please help us make it better. What can we do to improve the situation? There may be a few strong points we can present. I was wondering if you can help us present them in a convincing manner.

    1. My parents have 2 houses as property and can show some bank balance which by the way how much would you recommend? My brother can send his bank statements here with 10,000 USD.
    2. My mom has a job and has letters granting only 2 months leave and she would have to return back by then.
    3. My mom's parents are old and my mom has to take care of them as her other siblings are not doing well to take up the responsibility.

I was reading the earlier discussions and your answers are very helpful and logical. I am hoping you can help us too.

    Thanks

    My piece of advice.

Just a piece of advice... But I am not much experienced in this forum

Ur mom having a bank job is a plus point. State in the DS156 Form for" Present Occupation" as Bank Service or write the designation. The letter from bank should help too. That is the strong point for the tie in india.. and salary slip ...

Immihelp , or anyone Please correct me if I am wrong ?

Thank you pratibhakat. We will highlight the fact that my mom has a job by producing all relevant documents. Does showing bank balance and property in India help? if so how much is required?

        Send them separately

        Sita,

Having 2 kids here is a big concern for the VOs. I am also in the same situation as you are. My personal advice would be 1. They sponsoring themselves showing enough bank balance in india 2. Sending yr mom for first for appointment and bring her here once and after her return send your dad for the appointment. Next time they can come together. This is the plan i am working on right now. There is no other way the VO will suppress the fact that 2 kids are in US. Defenitely he will reject based on No strong ties back in India. But Luck is also there. As its been a while since yr last appointment, they have a slight chance together. But my 2nd point would be a better idea. But still you can try them together once. Hope i make sense
