  • Visitor visa rejected twice

    Hi,

I am on project in US for the past 2 years. I wanted to get my mother to visit me on visit visa but sadly it got rejected twice( once in January 07 and next in Feb 07 ). i belive that i made a mistake of asking my mother twice within a span of 15 days for the interview. The reson for rejection is 214b as myself and my younger brother are in US. my father expired in my childhood.

I would like to invite her again but i would like to know what can be the probability of her getting the visa the 3rd time. How much time gap do i need to give before i think of asking her to go for interview once again. Will it make a difference if my brother sponsers her visit? he is still a student. Will the rejections information be there in her database? what can i do further or what documentation is required further to enhance her case so that she can come on a visit visa. what will happen is 3rd time also the visa is rejected.

Please someone, take time out and let me know the possible answers for my queries. Thanks in advance.

    Regards
    Kalyan

Of course, the consulate keeps records and knows if someone has been rejected before. It is usually even stamped in the applicant's passport.

Anyway, whenever your mother applies for a visa, she will be granted a visa ONLY if she can prove strong ties to India and her intention to return. To do that she needs to show economic ties (a well-paying job/pension/assets) and social ties (immediate family dependent on her or a child with whom she stays - say like an older son). And since both of her children are in the U.S. and she is a widow, it is very difficult for her to prove her intent to return or social ties to India.

May be if she applied for a visa after you returned to India after the completion of your project she stands a better chance of getting a visa.

Don't hurry for frequent interview. Have a gap of minimum 6 months. Previous rejections are not the only fact in considering issuance of any future visa

        B1 visa

        Hai,

To get your mother's visa successfully, you need to give atleast 3 to 6 months gap and you need to prove that she has strong ties in india so that she will come back to india on her proposed visit. To prove strong ties, you can show property on your mother's name, prove that she has one more son in india who is studying and i am (your mother) responsible of his marriage and another stuff , have immediate relatives who can take care of her etc.,Another important thing is whenever you apply for US visa after refusal, you need to show changes what you have done compared to your pervious application. Changes can be addition of property docs, family photographs, etc.,

Hope you mother gets her visa..

Thanks a lot for the replies. I would note down the reco's and hopefully she would get a chance next time. We are only 2 sons and both of us are in US, i am skeptical on her chances though but will keep trying.

Thanks once again for all the replies.
