Visitor Visa...Please respond !!!!

Hi,

I am working in US on H1-B Visa. My mother is applying for Visitor Visa . She is a resident of Madhya Pradesh. Is it mandatory for her to apply in Mumbai Consulate or can she apply in New Delhi Consulate as well.

Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated

She has to apply at Mumbai consulate, unless she has been living in either delhi or one of the states served by Delhi consulate for more than 6 months. I had the exact same question as you do, when I applied for my mom and grandma. They too live in MP, and they had to go to Mumbai Consulate. I wanted them to go to Delhi, which is convenient for them, but there was no choice.
Even if you say that your mom has been living in Delhi for instance, she must have a valid and strong reason, why she would leave her home in MP and live somewhere else. Hope this helps.
