  • URGENT: e-mail response received from VFS mumbai: dont understand it..please advise!!

I had asked VFS office in mumbai via e-mail to look up (by HDFC barcode and passport no) whether the paperwork had been received for my relations in advance as per their appointment on Tues. March 20th. Here is the response I got, Im not sue what to make of it: any ideas! I dont see it canceled on the VFS website so Im confused

    Dear Sir/Madam,
    Thanks for your email.

Since the applicant could not attend the interview appointment at the stipulated time, he needs to visit the nearest VFS application centre two working days after the interview date with his original passport, interview letter, HDFC receipt and a letter stating the valid reason for missing the scheduled appointment.

If you have a substantial reason to prove the same, the receipt can be re-activated.

Before visiting the application centre for reactivation, kindly call the helpline number 022 66547600 in order to confirm their status failing which the applicant might be turned back from the application centre.

    Regards,

Why are you unnecessarily complicating a simple situation?
If your parents personally handed in the application at the Ahmedabad/Mumbai/Pune Visa Application Center then it will automatically get to the Consulate. Thousands of people are following this same route every month. And the consulate and Application Center can be counted on to do their job and not lose/misplace people's applications.

So if your parents submitted the application themselves then there is absolutely NO need to confirm whether the Mumbai office received it or not.

If, on the other hand, you sent/posted the papers directly to the Visa Application Center then I don't think their applications will be accepted because your parents are required to sign the applications before submitting them.

So please clarify the exact process you followed.

      problem

      hello thanks for resposne

Someone else in Bombay supposedly delivered their documents (dont know exactly who) and i e-mailed them just to find out whether the docs were delivered or not. I had booked an appointment for a later date which I changed on tuesday for march 20th so the docs needed to be there by wed to ensure 3 working days (mon is off in Mumbai) all i did was try to find out if they were delivered. The response they gave was confusing..

Did your parents sign the application?

Do your parents have the new appointment letter? If yes, ask them to persoanlly go to the Mumbai Visa Application Center with both the old and new appointment letter and clarify the situation.

Can't you directly call the person who was asked to submit the applications to the Mumbai Center whether or not he/she submitted it?

How can you trust someone you don't know to submit such important documents for you? If your parents' trip to the U.S. is so important to them and to you can they not make a trip to Mumbai to submit the papers themselves?

my whole situtaion is a bit complicated...plus poor planning involved but due to some issues parents werent able to personally turn in papers properly. All i wanted to do via the e-mail was ensure that the papers got there..the e-mail they sent didnt really tell me much so i posted it here to ask for some clarification..thanks for your help!!!
