    Hello everyone,

    I am so happy my Parents got 10 years visa at the Chennai consulate @ 1st attempt on 15th March.

    Thanks to immihelp and everyone who is contributing to this forum with valuable information.

    They had English appointment. My Father was asked a few questions but the VO did not ask for any of there documents.

    The questions asked were:

    1. why are you going to US?
    For tourisum and to visit my son's place.

    2. How many children you have?
    Three

    3. Where are they?
    1 in US and 2 in India

    4. How much property you have? How do you get your income in india?
    I have property / pension and rent.
    5. For which company is he working in US
    YYYY X company.
    6. what does he do?
    He is working as software engineer.

    7. What are you children doing in India?
    so and so.
    8. Are your childrens staying with you?
    yes, it is a joint family

    9. How long are you going to stay in US?
    Max. 2 months

    10. Where did you work before retirement?
    YYYY Central Govt.

    OK you are going to get your visa and ur passport will be mailed to you within 5-6 days.

    I think, proper documentation and preparation is a must to get visa at the first attempt.

      Hi..did ur parents carry your birth certificate

      I don't have my birth certicate. My father tells it takes lot of time to get one.They have the appointment next week.Can my parents take anything else then birth certificate..like school certificate etc

        They took my brith certificate which they got from the muncipality on which my name was not written. I am not sure about the tenth certificate, as parents name will not be written on the certificate. I think ration card should be helpful.
        VO did not even ask for the birth certificate. But to be on safeside, if your parents carry your Tenth certificate that should be helpful.

          how many months mentioned?

          Hi can anyone tell me as to how many months of visa did you request? my dad is a lawyer in India and he cannot stay for more than 2 months.so should i mention that i am requesting a visa for 2 months or 6 months and then ask my dad to say he will come back in 2 months
