self-financing trip

Hi

My parents are about to apply for the tourist visa. If they mention that will finance their own trip, what docs are expected of them ? Do they have to show enough liquid cash in their bank account or investment proof would be enough ? My father is retired & mom housewife, so will the officer be convinced if they say self-finance even though they can manage it.

Some officer's criteria for self-sponsoring is good income only. THey ask about income only and will not look at any deposits, property etc. It is strange but that is how these visa officers are. So looking at their retired status, they should not go for self sponsoring , you should sponsor.
