Rejected in India; Reapplying from Canadian Embassy

    Hello,

I'm on L1 visa in the USA.

My mother, who is a widow, got her tourist visa rejected in India few months back. Now she has traveled to Canada on tourist visa and would like to apply for US visa from there. My questions

    1. Last time, I mentioned that she would like to visit me and I will sponsor her. This time, I would get her to self-sponsor. We also have few citizen relatives in USA. Would it be better if my mother can mention them as primary point of contact (and not me). What would be your suggestions on that?

    2. Any general knowledge on applying from a different embassy

    Regards,
    Jasjit

      1. Will not make any difference. Having a citizen relative as point of contact does not improve anything. Tourist visa decision is solely based on the applicant's ties to
      his/her home country.

      2. Makes no difference, they have all her information including previous denial on computer that can be accessed from any US embassy.

In addition, the visa application asks to list immediate relatives (incl sons/daughters) in the US, something that cannot be hidden. COs have access to previous applications and interview data. There is no sponsorship for a tourist visa, she can mention whoever is paying for the trip.
