  • Application b1/b2 visa

    Hi all,

    My dad, mom and I are planning to visit my sister in U.S who has just got graduated and we want to attend the ceremony which will be held in mid june(date not confirmed). My mom is a housewife, my dad and me are in family business. The business is in my dad's name and i have nothing to show as of my own even though i'm the one who is running the whole show.

    what should i tell if i'm asked as what is my work in india and show me documents related to it. As i said earlier, no documents show my name in the business. What is the solution?
    should i reregister the firm as partnership and get my name in the partnership deed... or should i plainly answer to VO that i'm with my dad in the business.

    Please advice

    Hi

    It is necessary to have proof of intention to return to India while applying for visa..be it a job or property or nething that determines yur reason to not settle in the US. U could get your dad's company's letter stating you r working for him and that the 3 of u r going to the US only for the graduation ceremony u mentioned.

    All the best.

        Family ties to India are extrememly important. One of the family members must stay back in India or else the officer will think all of you may not want to come back.
        If you apply in the present scenario with no documentation of your own income(own tax returns, balances) and since you are young and single,I presume,
        there are high chances of refusal for the whole family.

        tips;
        *let your parents go; you stay back.
        *your dad should show strong business papers: registration , strong balance sheets and tax returns.
        *he should show he is spending his own money.
        *should ask for a reasonable stay; not too short , not too long;
        3-4 months.

          We have a good business profile. I'm currently a deemed exporter to the U.S meaning i'm supplying to a comapny here and they export it to U.S. now, i want to go there and look for direct business, i thought this is a good opportunity for me and time to go... but as u suggest that one family member should be here.. i've my younger brother here (working with EnY)and whole lot of properties..

          Can we three go together for the interview?
          My mom n dad don't intend to stay there for more than a month.
          I'll be there longer as i'll have to do the running around from one place to the other.
          My sister is now working for a good firm and she is drawing a good salary.
          My dad can show he is spending his own money and he will be using his money there.. can i show a couple of credit cards with decent balance on them to the VO.

          The whole thing to this that we have to go all together somehow..If possible can i get the interview date later?

          Thanks

            My sincere advice;
            Your parents going for the graduation makes sense but not you.
            You should have a much more concrete purpose to visit US.

            Your good business is in your favour. Going for a business trip inreases the chances of visa many times. So you should apply alone BEFORE your parents for a business trip. You will have to mention on the form that your sister is in US but Do not mention that you are going to visit her. SHow that you are going alone for a purely business purpose. Show your letter of invitation from US business client, details of business meetings, balance sheets in INdia and tax returns. Your name must figure somewhere prominently in the business papers. Ask for a very short stay of few weeks.

            After you get your visa, your parents should apply independently with a purpose of visit of visiting their daughter for graduation ceremony.
            They should also not show that you are travelling with them.

            If they get the visa too, all of you can travel together.

              My sister has sent us an invitation letter from her university. Besides, the university allows FIVE members from the family to come and see the graduation.

              Secondly, how early can we get a visa appointment as her thing is on 12th may.

              Thanks

                ...

                Most of the uni's do that. In ur case i would say don't even think of a visit visa, instead show that ur planning to go to US for business purpose...and when u r given a business visa u get both b1/b2 so u can also travel for visit...
