Sponsoring mother-in-law,thogu wife is working

Hi,

We both( me and my wife, on H1B) are working now. But my wife came to US in May 2006 and started working from Nov 1st 2006. But I am working since 2004. Now we are planning to sponsor my mother-in-law's Visitor's visa.
Can we both sponsor as my wife does not have much amount on her w2?
We have one more problem here, becuase of some time constrains, we could not register our marriage then. We filed our taxed this year together as a family also.

Is it Ok if my wife alone sponsor her mother's Visa ?

She has the Visa interview at chennai on May 16th.

Please let me know if anybody has the same situation.

If you have good income, you should go ahead and sponsor. Your wife has not been working for long and has low income so it may be a problem.
It is quite common for people to sponsor their inlaws successfully, so do not worry.
Take note that the invitation letter should be prepared by your wife.

They do not usually ask for a marriage certificate. A joint account, joint taxes are enough proof. They should take some marriage pictures in case it comes to that.
