First of all, thanks to Immihelp for providing such a wonderful information on tourist visas.
My parents got their B2 in first attempt! I graduated in Dec 06 and now I am on OPT. I got an invitation letter from my university, for my parents to attend my commencement ceremony in May 07.
Interview was in Marathi. The VO just asked the purpose of visit and my parents told him that they want to go to US for a month, just to attend the graduation and then handed over the invitation letter. As my parents were self sponsoring, then the VO saw my parents financial documents and that's it! They got their visa!! Today we received parents' passports back and the visa is a "10 Year Multiple Entry"!!!
