What to do at Point of Entry for ppl who dont know English

Hi,

My parents got visitors visa for 10yrs. None of them speak English, we had taken Hindi Translator for visa interview.

Now i have a question, When my parents reach to USA at point of Entry USCIS will take there interview in english, but since they dont know the language how should they communicate?

I heard some one telling me to use Post sign 'I dont speak English'.

Would appericiate if some one can advice me about what can be done.

Normally it is not a problem, and if they need to POE can call a translator on the fly.

But your parents might have trouble reading the signs etc at the airports so prep them well.
My advice inform the airline that they might need assistance and a wheelchair. That way the porter takes them where they need to be.

No problem. Check information in this immihelp web site :http://www.immihelp.com/visitor-visa/. Prepare all the information for I-94 and customs forms for your parents. If your parents show them to flight attendent, they will help to fill up those forms. For POE, prepare letter behalf of your parents (sample letter available in this website), once they show this letter to immigration officer, he/she will not ask any question, unless officer needs more information about your parents. I used this method for my mother, she does not speak English.

Also you may consider wheel chair assistance from airline or find travel companion from classifieds post for trouble free journey.
