  • US B1/B2 can i go on a visit

    Hi All

Recently i was issued a 10 Year Multiple entry visa to the US. I had applied tru my company and the purpose of the visit was to attend a training. The visa type is B1/B2. At the POE i was asked by the officer the purpose of my visit and when i said that i had come for trng he immidiately stamped my passport and mentioned B1 on it. Now my question is can i use the same VISA to travel to the US for a personal Visit ?? I have my parents and my sister in the US and during the visa interview i had declared the same. All of them are green card holders and i had also mentioned that my mom had filed for emmigration visa for me too. The Visa issuing officer had asked me abt the same but he did't have any problem in issuing me the visa.....I would like you to kindly let me know if a pleasure trip is possible for me to the US, if yes what documents i need to carry with me !!

    Regards

    Jango

O Mr Jango. Your worry is rather laughable, excuse me.
DO you think people who are on a B1 status are forbidden to meet their relatives and friends.
Do you think if you have a B1 on your I94, and you are having fun at walt disney , they will trouble you because you did not a have B2 stamp?

Who is going to concern with that trivial stuff.

Just make sure you do not be working or making money, even if cash, on your B1 status. That will be serious.

@ Peace that's not my concern. I have been to the US, met my parents and have already come back to india. Infact am planning to go to US in the month of DEC, and this time on my own, personal trip, so i just wanted to know if i can tell them that i have come to visit my parents......will i have any issue at the POE ??

Ok I am sorry, I misunderstood the question.

Yes, you can. That is why they give you a visa which is named "B1/B2".
you can use it either for business(B1) or visiting friends and relatives(B2)

You can carry a letter from one of your relatives inviting you to visit them,
and a copy of their gc

The only thing you must keep in mind is your frequency of visits; they should be well spaced to justify the purpose of visit. If you just came from a B1 visit and
return in a month's time to visit relatives for a couple of months; it may raise eyebrows.
