Hi,
I took online appointments for my parents today. Following are the issues I am facing while filling up details in online forms (Mumbai region):
Form DS 156:
Question 37- "Are Any of The Following Persons in The U.S., or Do They Have U.S. Legal Permanent Residence or U.S. Citizenship?
Mark YES or NO and indicate that person's status in the U.S. (i.e., U.S. legal permanent resident, U.S. citizen, visiting, studying, working, etc.)"
PROBLEM: I need to enter "US Legal Permanent Resident" in "Status" field, but the space is just enough for the word "LEGAL PERMANEN" (Not enough space available for even the text "Legal Permanent Resident"). Is just "LEGAL PERMANEN" OK? Have anyone faced this issue before?
Question 40- "Application Prepared By: --> Address:"
PROBLEM: I entered my address, but the entered complete address is not getting diplayed when I see the generated PDF. Last few words of the address are truncated.
Question 20- "Name and Address of Present Employer or School":
PROBLEM: The online page asks to select whether you are employed or a student, and if you choose "No", the system enters "NA" in "Name and Address of Emoployer/School" and disables these fields for editing. But the generated PDF doesn't print "NA" in these fields, it keeps them
blank. All fields on DS 156 MUST be filled. So I wonder what should I do in this case, since I do not get a chance to edit these fields (they get auto-populated online with "NA" since I selected "No" to "Are you employed or a student?"), but are kept blank in the generated PDF!
Question 16- Business, Mobile phone numbers
PROBLEM: I cannot write "NA" for busines, mobile, fax etc. as the system mandates these to be "numbers". Can I keep these BLANK? (Just want to confirm since the requirement is that I must respond to all questions, or enter "NA" if not applicable)
Form DS 157:
Question 8 - "Full Name and Address of Contact Person or Organization in the United States (Include Telephone Number)"
PROBLEM: I entered the telephone number of the US contact in online form in given area for entering tel. no., but the generated PDF doesn't show the tel. no. in field number 8! What should I do? Is it ok if I enter the tel. no. in the address field itself below the address in online form (instead of entering it in "Tel. No." field in online form?
Question 17- "Course of Study" column in "educational details" section:
PROBLEM: I want to enter "Bachelor of Arts", but the available space cannot take these many characters, and so I entered "Bachelor Art" (so that at least the degree name is mentioned). I am not sure why so much less space is provided in online. What should I do?
Has anyone come across these issues before? Any idea what should I do in each of the above problems (apart from calling the VFS help line)?
This forum has been very informative and I hope these problems will help those who are going to fill the forms online.
Appreciate your time and help!!!
Regards.
