    HI

im a 1st engineerin student.me and my parents went for the interview on may 4th at the Chennai consolate.the vo gave visa to my parents and rejected mine giving the 214(b) form.the vo dint even look at my face nor asked me any questions.he just asked my dad

    1.whats ur anual income?
2.how many sons do u have?

then he said he cant give visa to ur son.i can give only to u and ur wife.

i hve applied again. This time shall i say tat im goin with my mom to visit usa or should i say im goin alone.Actually my dad, mom n me are plannin to go..would there be more chances of gettin visa if i say "im goin with my mom and my dad cannot come as he has a company, hez doin business so its difficult for him to leave it come".

    thanks

There is no point applying the way you are planning to. They are smart ,
they know you will go with your parents whatever you may tell them.
And saying that your dad cannot go, the argument will be, why did he apply for the visa if he cannot go.

DO NOT LIE AND DO NOT TRY TO TRICK THEM.

They denied you the visa because with you in India ,your parents have more chances of returning.

My advice is; Forget it this time. Let your parents go and return.
You should apply independent of your parents after they have come back.
You should try to self sponsor if your dad has good income.
But let me warn you; Young , single people it is hard to get a visa, as they are very prone not to return.

Karthik a 1st year Engg student, getting a visit visa to US is very unlikely. Instead of spending ur time & money applying for Visit visa, i would say apply for students visa...u have better probability, but make sure u apply for a gud uni and take up all mandatory certifications !!

well, two visitor visa rejections could definitely weaken your student application because you could appear to be really desperate to get to the US.

btw, your student status at an indian engineering college will not work as concrete evidence of your intention to return. you need to show strong economic and social ties to india and at present you don't have any such ties. so your rejection was to be expected.

You think that just because nothing has been stamped in your passport, the consulate does not keep a record of people who visited the place for visa interviews? The folks at the consulate are not fools. And in all probability they have stamped your passport with the date that you last visited them. That way they know you've been there before.

And as I said letters from your college are NOT really helpful. What does the letter prove? Does it prove that you will return to india after your trip? How can a letter from your college prove your social and economic ties to India or your intention to return?

If you apply again so soon after your first rejection, without any change in your situation, why should the consulate even take your case seriously this time?

During your last interview, if the VO was able to reject you without even asking any questions then does that not tell you something about how the consulate regards you as a potential immigrant. They have absolutely no doubts about that and that is the reason they did not even need to ask you any questions during your last interview.

And are they not correct to assume that? After your engineering are you not planning on going to the US and settling there after your graduate study? So why are you getting so impatient to go there right now? Is it so difficult for you to wait 3 more years?

If you booked your tickets and made travel plans before getting a visa that is no body's fault but yours. If you had done some research before you applied for a visa you would have known that people in your age group are usually rejected when they apply for a visitors visa. People in your age group tend to get US visas only if they are students (F1), skilled professionals (H1, L1) or dependents/spouses of skilled professionals (H4, L2).

You are welcome to visit the consulate again. Hope for the best - that you will be the exception to slip through the narrow cracks and get a visa - but also be prepared for the worst - a second rejection.

And regardless of the outcome, do come back here with all the details of the interview.
