    Hi, I had applied for B1 (Business visa) in the year 2000. It was rejected as i was assumed to be a potential immigrant. I had applied again after an interval of 3 days and again it ws rejected. presently I have a new passport as the old one expired and the passport office gave me a new one.

    I am a well settled married businessman with no kids. I am about 35 years of age. I have visited contries like UK, France, Singapore, Switzerland, Malaysia, Thailand, UAE since then. I have my own house and run a software company in india.

    I want to apply for a Tourist visa for visiting US this year. I have my sister-in-law and brother -in-law who are settled in the US as citizens.

    My questions are:

    *Should I mention in my application form that my visa was rejected twice about 7 years back?
    * Should I mention that I have relatives in the USA

    Advice;
    Past denials does not mean you will always be denied. There are countless people who get visas after a couple of denials . I am one of them.
    DO NOT LIE. They do extensive cross checking these days, and past denial
    and blood relations are something that will show up on their computer on one click, even if you have a new passport.( old passport no. is always mentioned on the new one and they can detect you with your dob and name)

    .Casual purpose of visit is not likely to get you a visa for two reasons;
    you do not have any kids in India and your blood relatives are US citizens.
    Apply with a business purpose again , independent of your relatives( you will have to mention your blood relatives in DS 156 but do not say you will be visiting them). Analyse why your business visa was denied last two times. Try to correct it.
    Post your last interview here if you recall it. Business purpose is far more likely to get you a visa than a tourist purpose.

    Your extensive travel history will definitely help you with a business purpose.
    Show self financing ; do not get any financial support from anyone in US.

      my last interview details

      Dear PEACE,

      Last time i got stuck on my income statement. They had asked about my annual income. I told them that it was Rs 8 lacs pa. But my bank statement showed lesser income (about 4 lacs) as salary income. I tried telling them that I get some profit from my company at the end of the year as dividend. I had shown them the company balance sheets showing the dividends provision.

      But by then, the officer already passed his verdict.

        Sounds similar to the last 'case study' here:
