Regarding my dad's passport

Hi Guys,

can anybody give a solution to my query:

My dad has recently applied for his passport & as per his study certificate & birth certificate his name was printed correctly in the passport.But his name is spelled differently in his ration card & we(myself & my sisters) applied for our passports using the name(dad's name) which he has in his ration card,because he recently got his Study & birth certificates for applying his passport.Will this be a problem if I sponsor him to visit US?Also he has already paid the Visa fees with the name as in his passport.Can he change his name in the study & birth certificates to the one as in the ration card?
I would be really thankful to you, if you can reply me back.

normally a single letter missing or added is okay. When you fill the DS-156 or DS-157 make sure to mention both spellings.

there are so many other factors that are much more important

Thanks a lot for the reply..Actually his name was written as satish in our passports & sateesh in his passport.Do you think this would be still OK?
