Sponsor Invitation Letter Question

Hello,
My parents have an interview scheduled on June 21, 2007 at Chennai consulate. In the DS156 we have indicated that my husband would be sponsoring his in-laws. Both me and my husabnd are working here, husband on Green card and myself on H1B.We have combined assets and tax returns.


1)Is it required for me to send copies of documents related to my pay stubs and employment letters etc along with my husband's who is the sponsor.

But what about the invitation letter to my parents and letter to consulate ?

Currently we have only mentioned that my husband is sponsoring for my parents in the invitation letter and letter to consulate.

2)Do we have to mention or indicate that both me and my husband are inviting them in the letter than just my husband (sponsor) as shown in the sample letters?

3)I understand that there's no need to sign for me though in the letter, but do we need to mention that the letter is from both of us, and hence provide both of our contact nos, and email id in the letter format?


I have this doubt as i read in one of the latest forum posts that we had to mention both our names in the invitation letter and letter to consulate.

Is this a MUST or is it just something better to do so ? If this is a must , i would resend the invitation letter and letter to consulate once again

Hi,

The invitation letter is an informal letter. So it is perfectly fine if you alone wrote and signed the letter (infact it makes more sense since you are directly related to your parents). The letter to the Consulate on the other hand has statements like 'we will take care of the finances required for the trip'. So it may be better if both of you signed. Either way it does not matter since the Affidavit of Support is the official dosument that tells who is sponsoring the trip.

I dont think copies of your pay stubs are required since your husband is the sponsor. I am sure your husband has a decent salary to show that he can take care of the expenses for their trip and stay in the US.

I just wanted to add that you do need to send proof of your legal status in the US. You will need to send your H1B approval notice and an employment letter. But for sponsorship purposes your husband's documents are sufficient.

As far as the invitation letter and the letter to the Consulate are concerned it is perfectly okay if you signed them alone or signed them together.

Sorry Suman, i beleive there is little confusion here.I have not written only my name and only myself signed in the invitation letter.

The thing is only my husband(sponsor) has signed the invitation letter and also the letter to consulate, no where in the invitation letter i (daughter to my parents who are the applicants) have signed nor my name is mentioned such that i am inviting my parents too along with my husband in the invitation letter.

Should that be fine, or should we have atleast mentioned that both my husband and myself are inviting my parents and probably i too have signed in the invitation letter?

Hi again,

I think it may be better if you signed the invitation letter. It is okay if both of you signed also. You may sign the letter, scan it (color scan) and ask your parents to take a color print out. It should be okay.
